Mycenae
In the second millennium BC, Mycenae was one of the major centres of Greek civilization, a military stronghold which dominated much of southern Greece and parts of southwest Anatolia.
Mycenae is located about 120 kilometres (70 miles) southwest of Athens, in the north-eastern Peloponnese. From the hill on which the palace was located, one can see across the Argolid to the Saronic Gulf.
Mycenae "Rich in Gold", the kingdom of mythical Agamemnon, first sung by Homer in his epics, is the most important and richest palatial centre of the Late Bronze Age in Greece
Nafplion
Nafplio is a seaport town in the Peloponnese.
The town was an important seaport held under a succession of royal houses in the Middle Ages.
Nafplio was the capital of the First Hellenic Republic and of the Kingdom of Greece, from the start of the Greek Revolution in 1821 until 1834.
Palamidi (the castle on the hill with 999 stairsteps) Acronauplia (the oldest part of the city) and Bourtzi (the castle located in the middle of the harbour) are the most visible and picturesque places
Epidavros
Epidaurus was a small city in ancient Greece, on the Argolid Peninsula at the Saronic Gulf.
The prosperity brought by the Asclepion enabled Epidaurus to construct civic monuments, including the huge theatre that delighted Pausanias for its symmetry and beauty, used again today for dramatic performances.
The theatre is admired for its exceptional acoustics, which permit almost perfect intelligibility of unamplified spoken words from the stage to all 14,000 spectators. You can easily hear the sound of a match struck at center stage from every seat of the theater
Full Day Argolida Tour
Leaving Athens behind you'll be driven on the coastal road towards the West through the historic cities of Elefsina and Megara.
The first stop to take photos, after approximately one hour driving, is the Corinth Canal, a canal approx. 6 km long connecting the Aegean with the Ionian Sea.
Driving afterwards through the hills of Corinth, among thousands of olive trees and vineyards, you’ll arrive at the prefecture of Argolis where you will visit the archaeological site of Mycenae, Museum & Treasure of Atreus.
After concluding your visit to Mycenae you’ll be driven through the plain of Argos among endless farms of orange trees and you will arrive at the picturesque town of Nafplio. There you may visit Bourtzi, Acronauplia, either by vehicle or by using 999 stairsteps.
From Nafplion, driving through the winding roads of Argolis, you are going to visit Epidaurus, famous for its ancient theatre and the sanctuary of Asklepios.
